Andon is a fractional business executive and a subject-matter expert on strategic planning, business and sales operations, and product management. Most recently he was the CRO of SaaS start-up offering scientific research on AI and machine learning to academic and corporate institutions. He has worked with a TOPTAL client on a project to devise a business plan and a financial model for a sports information company. He also provided fundraising advisory services to an entrepreneur to launch a new social digital business. Andon has also worked with an entrepreneur to launch an AI-based product for the news industry. Earlier in his career, Andon was the COO of Storyful, a high-growth SaaS-type startup, acquired by News Corp., Andon oversaw revenue growth by 50% and employee numbers expand from 50 to 170. He was responsible for FP&A, forecasting and budgeting as well as month-end closing and reporting. Andon introduced department-level budgeting as well as quarterly business reviews, which helped streamline operations and focus strategy. As a content-based SaaS business, Storyful had several revenue lines, including subscriptions, a-la-carte sales and service fees. Andon has solid strategy planning experience, tested at organizations such as the AP and CNN. As deputy director of the strategic planning department, he was a central player in crafting and communicating the global business strategy of the organization and implementing several projects that significantly accelerated AP’s digital development. He also led the global team that revamped AP’s video strategy for digital workflow, delivery and sales. From the AP, he was hired by CNN to bring business rigor to the video business. In close partnership with Editorial, within a year, they doubled traffic and engagement across CNN Digital’s video product portfolio on CNN.com, mobile apps, YouTube channel and syndication partners. It resulted in exceeding annual revenue targets for video by 20%. At CNN he was also responsible for the overall digital experience for CNN’s 100 million+ unique digital consumers globally. He led a team that oversaw ad campaign implementation, sponsorship delivery and business performance across CNN’s digital platforms and formats.
