Personal summary
I am Hourieh Qodratnama and I study a master’s degree in Interior and Special Design at Polytechnic University of Milan (PoliMi). I also hold my in B.Sc. degree in Interior Design from PoliMi, September 2017. Although I had done a B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering in 2010 and I had worked for few years, my willingness to study design led me to start a bachelor’s program in this field. My eagerness to study in a more dynamic educational system and my passion to challenge myself by stepping into new subjects in new environment and living abroad, I enrolled as a student at one of the best universities in the field of design, Polytechnic University of Milan. During my bachelor’s program, I gained extensive knowledge on various aspects of building construction and factors affecting occupants’ comfort and health, as well as on creative thinking process and conceptual design. Bachelor’s degree has been quite a challenge for me, learning with a new language, adapting to a new culture, in addition to age gap between me and other classmates, and dealing with economic situation. However, in the end I managed to overcome all such challenges and difficulties, and I am thrilled that I have created such an experience for myself, from which I have learned a lot. Following my excitement to have experience in design, in October 2017, I started working as an intern in StudioCR34 that is an architect and design studio in Milan. In those few months I had a chance to work on several projects. Working alongside a very creative and dedicated design team and dealing with variety of challenges, provided me with unique opportunities to acquire skills in research, presentation and project scheduling, and to learn about furniture and materials. I believe that such an experience was a very good starting point in my career. In September 2018, I started my master’s degree, when at the same time I started a collaboration with StudioCR34 as Interior Design Assistant. Working part-time as design assistant for more than a year, helped me to take my path in different types of projects, and persuaded me to widen my view in my career.
